A year-long project to bring CSI: Sittingbourne back to life, in partnership with Sittingbourne Heritage Museum. Having been untouched for years, the new team of just 5 staff redesigned the space before opening to the public in spring 2022, then completing the major project of creating a digital archive for the High Speed 1 collection. The project was kindly supported by Ecclesiastical Insurance’s Movement for Good fund.
The HS1 archive task included condition checking 575 boxes from 57 sites, looking at approximately 12,000 finds. All this was paired with inputting the data into a spreadsheet that will become part of the Historic Environment Record – an incredible 23,965 pieces of information! A small but dedicated team of volunteers also gave their invaluable time and energy to complete the project, and CSI hosted an A-Level student for work experience in July.
